Zoe Cormack

Zoe is an academic who works on the history of South Sudan. She first went to South Sudan in 2008, during an internship with the Rift Valley Institute. The following year she went to Khartoum and Dilling to teach English with the Sudan Volunteer programme. In 2011 she returned to South Sudan for 14 months to conduct fieldwork for her PhD in Gogrial. Her current research is on ethnographic artefacts and art from South Sudan in European museum collections. She’s particularly interested in finding ways to reconnect these collections with their communities of origin and raising the profile of South Sudan’s rich cultural heritage.
