Public profile:
Fidaa is originally from the Kordofan region in Western Sudan. She has a BA in French from the University of Khartoum, studied linguistics in France, and is currently working as a housing officer in London. For many years, she contributed to various Sudanese groups, including the Sudanese Open Themes Group, which runs monthly sessions on various cultural and intellectual topics that are relevant to Sudan. In 2010, just before the Sudan 2011 Referendum, she co-organised an evening celebrating music and poetry of the Sudans in celebration of reconciliation, peace and cultural diversity. Fidaa is particularly interested in widening the participation of the Sudanese diaspora in the UK, as well as in collaborative joint working between Sudanese and non-Sudanese groups in the UK.
